At the International Astronautical Congress (IAC) held in Sydney, an important decision was made: the next congress in 2028 will take place in Samarkand. This historic event will mark the beginning of a new era in the space industry, not only for our country but also for the entire Central Asian region.
As part of the congress in Sydney, a delegation from the Ministry of Digital Technologies of Uzbekistan participated with an extensive program.
Presentations were made on Uzbekistan’s achievements in space technology and its future plans.
There were also strategic meetings with space agencies from Europe, Asia, and America.
In addition, joint projects for the application of digital technologies in space monitoring, agriculture, and ecology were discussed.
During the event, the leadership of the International Astronautical Federation highly appreciated Uzbekistan’s scientific potential, the interest of youth in space sciences, and efforts to develop infrastructure, supporting the initiative to host the congress in Samarkand in 2028.
This major forum will not only be an important platform for the development of science and technology but will also bring significant economic benefits to our country. For example, the current congress in Sydney contributed 42 million Australian dollars (about 27 million US dollars) to the Australian economy. It is expected that the IAC in Samarkand will attract more than 10,000 international guests, generating a substantial economic effect in areas such as tourism, services, and entrepreneurship through international exhibitions.
